Gensler’s competitive entry Pocketknife is an incubator workplace concept within ONE Lab’s newly-acquired Brooklyn Navy Yard building. The proposal suggests a modular and transformative building tool that responds to the needs of the people inside. The goal of the design was to develop this Swiss Army building typology, and apply it within ONE Lab’s space as well as the surrounding urban environment.
I worked within a larger team to define the concept, prepare visualizations, and contribute to rigorous detailing. The unique design approach was a study in flexible space-making, and crafting adaptable spaces for multiple modes of work and collaboration.
