Team Capitol DC's Solar Decathlon entry Harvest is an ecologically responsible home that collects and replenishes nature's gifts, creating a deeply-rooted connection to the natural environment, the human spirit, and the well-being of future generations. The goal of the design was to question the typical solar home, and create a living experience in connection with the natural environment.
The design incorporates sustainable energy technology and materials to support net-zero living, and unique design features to support veterans living with PTSD. By reducing visual complexity, the home embodies a space for mental and physical health.
